About This Item

The First printing of Labrys 3, published by Labrys in 1978. This is number '6' of a special unspecified casebound limitation. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. This edition was devoted to work by and about Michael Ayrton, with a checklist. 12 monochrome plates and four illustrations to the text by MIchael Ayrton. Very faint partial toning to the contents page and final text page. 126 pages. Original special binding of red cloth with an Ayrton 'Minotaur' drawing inset to the upper board. Spine lettered in gilt. The original acetate WRAPPER is in near Fine condition, and was originally fixed to paste-downs with circular stickers, but the adhesive to these has now dried. A scarce version of this number devoted to Ayrton, with contributions from Donald Davie, Arnold Haskell, Basil Wright et al. The precise limitation of this casebound issue is unknown. Although there are no identifying features, this copy formally belong to poet and publisher Kevin Perryman, a portrait of whom by Ayrton is amongst the illustrations. Scarce
