Bumping to the tail of the back strip, foxing to the top edge of the text block, rubbing and chipping of all edges of the dust jacket, with short tears along the bottom edge. . This book is a highly personal retrospective -- mainly philosophical but occasionally brimming with genuine emotion -- of the war years in Transylvania, seen as an entangled piece of the jigsaw puzzle of those dark times. The author's novel conjures up the image of the humble village where the author was born in 1920, his father's recollections from World War I, the bitter taste of the Nazi and chauvinistic victimisation of the native population while he was studying at the University, and then began his career as a journalist, poet and essay-writer.
