London: Bemrose & Sons, 1873. Vol. XIV - New Series. Hardcover. Very good. iv, 332 p. 26 cm. B&w illustrations. 1 fold-out pattern in purple. Half green leather with marbled paper boards. Spines gilt, brown spine labels. Corners slightly bumped and edges worn. Leather a bit scuffed and boards rubbed. Occasional foxing.
Includes poetry, useful articles, cookery, needlework. Items about modern astrology, a French notion of an English Christmas, death and funeral of the Emperor Napoleon, the Nile slave trade, how to brew two gallons of ale, convulsions in an infant due to the abuse of alcohol in the nurse, test for death ("Every one has a dread of being buried alive"), preserving milk in summer, nasturtium sauce, etc.
