About This Item

2000. Soft cover. Near Fine. Drudwyn, Erik. Lady Death", Erik Drudwyn original art. Mixed media on art paper, 18" x 12", signed and dated lower right. Near fine, with just a faint uncreased fold at lower left, off-image. An early and highly collectible Drudwyn, just a bit before he became internationally famous for his incredible photorealism live-modeled pin-up masterpieces. At the time - the year 2000 - Drudwyn was just starting out, and was doing a number of comic-book-based heroines, such as Lady Death, the 1991 creation of Brian Pulido and Steven Hughes for Eternity Comics "Evil Ernie" series, and later in Chaos! Comics, Avatar Press/Boundless, and a full-length animated feature film. Avatar now publishes the villainess character, whose (fictional) "origin" is itself a convoluted and ever-changing tale. A number of other artists besides Drudwyn have executed Lady Death works, and that is something of a collector hobby in itself. Here, the fetching and pulchritudinous platinum blond sits on a pile of skulls, in a graveyard, well-armed and well-everything-elsed.
