Two plays by Edmond Rostand in uniform bindings. Both 1925 editions from Librairie Charpentier et Fasquelle. 'L'Aiglon' is a play in six acts based on the life of Napoleon II and his second wife Empress Marie Louise'; 'Cyrano de Bergerac,' the most well known of Rostand's work, is a fictionalisation of Cyrano de Bergerac's life, written in verse. The play was translated and performed numerous times, and is responsible for the introduction of the word panache into the English language.Edmond Rostand was a French poet and dramatist, associated with the movement of neo-romanticism. Rebound in uniform quarter straight up grain morocco over marbled boards, with titles in gilt to morocco spine labels, new endpapers. Externally very smart with light shelf wear and bumping to extremities of boards. Previous ownership ink inscription to front blank leaf of 'L'Aigon', dated 1926. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean with a touch of age toning, as usual with the type of paper used. Very Good Indeed
