About This Item

Paris: Charpentier et Fasquelle, 1923. Leather. Very Good. 8" by 5.5". None. An attractive leather bound copy of Edmond Rostand's play about the son of Emperor Napoleon. Premiered in 1900, this six act play by Edmond Rostand is based on the life of Napoleon II, the son of Emperor Napoleon I and his second wife Empress Marie Louise. The title, The Eaglet, stems from a nickname for the younger Napoleon. Published in French. The French poet and dramatist's play was premiered in 1900 by Sarah Bernhardt at her own theatre. In a quarter cloth binding over patterned boards. Externally, smart. Very lightly rubbed to the boards, with a small chip in the paper to the front board. A little bumped and worn to the extremities. The spine is discoloured. Internally, firmly bound. Aside from some light foxing to the endpapers, pages are clean if a little age-toned. Very Good
