S: Your land warrant was put into one of my shares of course you own 200 acres of land with me. This legal document was written by Robert Oliver (1738-1811) , who was a captain in the Revolutionary War from Conway, Massachusetts. He rose to brevet Colonel by the end of the War and later became Adjutant-General of the Northern Army of the Americas. In 1788 he moved with the Ohio Company to open up the Northwest Territory, settling at Campus Martius, a civilian fortress at Marietta. He was a representative of the first Territorial Legislature, Lt. Colonel of the 1st Regiment of the Territorial Militia, Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, and Justice of the Peace. A small but excellent piece of early Northwest Territory ephemera. .
