Cambridge University Press, London, 1943. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/Poor Condition. Preface by selectors, acknowledgements, index of authors and index of principal places. Green coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured embossed decoration and titles to the front panel and gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. A selection of poetry from England and Wales as seen by such poets as Robert Herrick, Matthew Arnold, T. S. Eliot, Alexander Pope and John Milton. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with bumping of the book corners. The cloth of the boards has become a little flecked and a little foxing and stains can be seen as well. Tanning of the text block edges with a little foxing also present offset tanning, With previous owners name to the top edge of the free front end page and original bookseller's rubberstamp to the lower edge of the same page. X libris plate to the front paste-down. The dustwrapper is in execrable shape  please see photograph. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners; with the top inch of the back strip missing and half an inch of the lower edge missing. A previous owner has supported the various tears and nicks in the dustwrapper  tape still visible to the verso  which has caused the inevitable residue to be seen to the front of the dustwrapper. Rubbing of the fold over edges and either side of the back strip with handling marks and sunning also present. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. xv, 236 pages,.
