About This Item

Paris: Jean Jost, 1632. Originally published as one of the works comprising "Des Oeuvres Charitable", this book stands alone, and with its own title page. Title page states that this is the "Last" edition, augmented by the author. (Which turned out to be true, as he died the year after publication). Recent full leather binding with red label and gilt titles. 236 pages (pagination is 209-445pp follows the larger work). Index to rear. Text block is in very good condition, with a little foxing / darkening only. Guibert wrote these "charitable" texts to make academic medicinal recipes available to the general public for an affordable price. Copac and Worldcat do not indicate a 1632 edition, but from the date, we assume this to be that of Jean Jost, published in the same year. 150 x 85 mm (6 x 3¼ inches). 150 x 85mm
