1898.. Chromolithograph, 10 x 17 inches on sheet 12 x 19 inches. Two 1/4 inch archivally mended edge tears (outside image area), small 1/8 inch abrasion to lower right image (inpainted). A chromolithograph of the highest quality, capturing the subtle coloration of the fish portrayed, produced for William Harris' publication "The Fishes Of North America" which was published in 1898 (Bennett, American Nineteenth Century Color Plate Books p.51). Harris had his artist, J.L. Petrie, paint from recently caught fish, and the particulars are noted in the lower left margin: "Specimen (weight 2 lbs.) caught and painted at Greenwood Lake, New York." with Harris' facsimile signature. .
