Claude-Henri Watelet was an 18th-century French painter who was much better known for his writings on art and painting. His most famous poem was 'L'Art de Peindre' or 'Art of Painting', a poem written to describe design, color, and the influence of art on poetry. The work itself consisted of illustrated sketches as well as descriptions of great artists such as Albrecht Durer, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci.
