About This Item
London: Macmillan, 1942. First edition, first printing. Published by Macmillan, London, in 1942. This is a near fine copy. The dust wrapper is slightly worn at the top and tail edges and at the corners, with tape internally pasted to enforce. It has been neatly price clipped. There are slight handling marks to the rear panel. The boards are free from notable chips and marks and the text blocks are generally clean. Overall, this is a near fine copy of a nice title. Richard Hillary returned to flying and died in a crash in his Bristol Blenheim in January 1943, barely six months after publication of his book.
