Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1983. THREE VOLUMES. The first editions of Manchester's monumental trilogy on the life of Sir Winston Churchill. "Visions of Glory", include the years 1894-1932, printed in 1983, 973pp, fine and fine; "Alone", published in 1988, includes 1932-1940, 756pp., red spine label is rubbed at edges, front cover rubbed, jacket is nearly fine; "Defender of the Realm, 2012, includes yaers 1940-1965, 1083pp., fine and fine. In late 2003, Manchester, who was in ill-health, asked Paul Reid to complete the final volume of his trilogy. Mannchester died in 2004. A very nice set.. First Edition. Black Cloth. Fine, Except as Noted/Fine. Thick Royal Octavo.
Synopsis
The Last Lion: Winston Spencer Churchill is a planned trilogy of biographies. Two have already been published, on Winston Churchill, by author and historian William Manchester.
