Greenwich, CT: New York Graphic Society, 1964. First Edition (?). Hardcover. Near fine/very good. Quarto, 45pp., A crisp, clean copy, near fine, in the publisher's red cloth. Extremities gently sunned, and light foxing to edges, but the contents clean and fresh. In a very good dust jacket, with some rubbing, and the top 1-inch of the spine perished. This copy SIGNED and warmly INSCRIBED by Menotti on the half-title page in the year after publication: "For dear civilized Pauline from the perennial would-be savage Gian Carlo 1965." This children's book is adapted by the author from his own opera of the same name, which had its English-language premiere at the Metropolitan Opera in the same year.
