On his personal "One Beekman Place" letterhead, Marquand tells this admirer "It means a great deal to any writer to get such a kind letter as yours about my novel 'Wickford Point.' I am particularly pleased to hear that it is going well in Cleveland because I had been afraid that its appeal might be confined to only Massachusetts." He goes on, "I have a good deal of general knowledge -- most of it inaccurate -- but I am very bad on definite facts. Thus I am afraid I shall be small help on 'Information Please' tonight and I send you my apologies now...." Signed boldly in full in black ink.
