About This Item
London: Macmillan And Co., 1922. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 8" by 5.5". None. A first edition of Thomas Hardy's poetry collection, complete with an 'apology' to his critics. This collection of Hardy's poetry is more musical than his other work, often fondly recalling past memories in ballad format. It opens with an Apology in prose.Thomas Hardy (1840-1928) was an English novelist and poet. His writings were extremely prolific, and included the novels 'Tess of the d'Urbervilles', 'Far from the Madding Crowd' and 'The Mayor of Casterbridge'. Much of his writing was set in the semi-fictional region of Wessex. This is a first edition. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally very smart, with very slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally firmly bound, pages are bright and clean with just the odd spot. Very Good Indeed
