London: Hodder & Stoughton Ltd., 1949. First edition ("First Printed - February 1949" on copyright page). Hardcover, 284 pages, plus three pages of advertisements for forthcoming novels at back. A 'Miss Silver' novel. A Very Good copy in original blue cloth, lettered in black. No inscription or book-plate, hinges and binding are firm and tight. In a VG- dustjacket which is complete on both front and back panels but has about one inch of chipping missing at heel of spine, several short edge tears, and light erosion at corner tips (jacket now protected under mylar). Quite scarce in jacket..
