Edinburgh: John Ross and Company, 1872 IN GOOD CONDITION. With Notes and a Chronological Summary of His Life and Index. xxx, (1), 160pp, bound in rounded WOODEN BOARDS, MADE OF WOOD GROWN ON THE LANDS OF ABBOTSFORD (Scott's home), with a gilt decorated, leather backstrip. Front cover shows a portrait vignette of Sir Walter Scott by Sir Henry Raeburn, along with 4 smaller vignettes of Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh Castle, Sir Walter Scott's Tomb at Dryburgh Abbey and Abbotsford. The back cover has a vignette of a street scene. Covers have inner dentelles, silk moire endpapers, all edges gilt, along with 2 (of 4) pearlized buttons on the back cover, meant to keep the back cover suspended, protecting the vignette. Includes 6 mounted albumen photographs. A few pages show edge wear/chips (not affecting the text).
