London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme, 1808. Leather. Very Good. 11" by 8.5". None. A handsome copy of Sir Walter Scott's The Lay of the Last Minstrel. Bound in diced calf leather with gilt lettering and decoration. Has been professionally rebacked and the leather repaired. Eighth edition. A very smart copy. Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet (1771 1832) was a prolific Scottish historical novelist and poet popular throughout Europe during his time. Famous titles include Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, The Lady of The Lake, Waverley, The Heart of Midlothian and The Bride of Lammermoor. The Lay of the Last Minstrel, first published in 1805, is a long narrative poem. Bound in diced calf leather with gilt lettering and decoration. There is slight wear to the extremities, including bumping. The binding is tight and firm. Internally the pages are clean and bright with only some mild spotting and offsetting from the plates.
