About This Item

One sheet, 58 x 44 cm, folded to 29 x 22 cm. Overall Near Fine (some toning). Comprised of a series of quotations (30 total) on anarchism and revolution by Cage, R. Buckminster Fuller, Emma Goldman, Henry David Thoreau, Michael Bakunin, Leo Tolstoy, and others. The final page is a single quote from Cage, “I’m an anarchist, same as you are when you’re telephoning, turning on/off the lights, drinking water.” Laid in is a single-sheet program for the Musical Interlude, a series of three pieces by Cage (Etudes Borealis, Royanji, and Credo In Us) performed as part of “John Cage At Wesleyan: A festival-symposium in honor of Cage’s 75th birthday. The composer will be in residence for the week.” A scarce Cage item, not found in commerce or auction records, with only one holding in OCLC (UC Santa Cruz).
