First thus; this is the first edition in hardcover, preceded by the paperback from Henry Holt and the original publication in Unknown magazine. Signed by de Camp at FFEP. 233 pages. Black cloth with gold spine titles, very good with light edgewear, lightly bumped to spine tips and top fore-edge corner of rear panel. Spine square. Binding sound. Dust jacket scuffed, toned, with small stain to rear panel; light general edgewear with small closed tear from top edge of front panel, and minor chipping to spine tips and fore-edge corners. DJ protected in Mylar. Pages lightly toned, text unmarked.
Synopsis
Lest Darkness Fall is an alternate history science fiction novel written in 1939 by author L. Sprague de Camp. It was first published as a short story in Unknown #10, December 1939. It was published as a complete novel by Henry Holt and Company in 1941 and reprinted by both Galaxy Publishing and Prime Press in 1949. The book is often considered one of the best examples of the alternative history genre; it is certainly one of the most influential.
