Deluxe Issue, one of six copies specially designated for the author, publisher, printer, binder, editor, and publisher's files, this one marked "Binder's Copy" and signed by Bowles on a preliminary leaf. Octavo (23.75cm); pictorial paper-covered boards and patterned cloth back strip, with title label mounted to spine; publisher's original acetate dustjacket; [6],7-292,[8]pp. Scattered foxing to upper edge of text block, else Near Fine in a lightly rubbed, Near Fine dustjacket. The first Black Sparrow Press edition of Bowles's second novel, with a new preface by the author. Designed by Barbara Martin. Black Sparrow published this edition in wrappers; there are 1000 cloth trade copies; 350 hardcover copies have been numbered & signed and 26 lettered copies plus the 6 Deluxe editions reserved.
