About This Item

London, 1779.. [4],50,[1]pp. Half title. Dbd. Light tanning to edges. Near fine. Galloway, a leading Loyalist, criticizes the actions of Admiral Viscount Richard Howe, brother of Gen. William Howe, during the American Revolution. In 1780-81, Galloway printed a series of eight letters which appeared in the LONDON CHRONICLE, signed "Cicero," charging the Admiral with gross misconduct in his failed operations during the war. This pamphlet addresses Howe's conduct during the 1776-79 period, when Howe was battling the French fleet and the smaller American forces. AMERICAN CONTROVERSY 79-43a. HOWES G42. SABIN 26435.
