Ordered that 500 additional copies be furnished for the use of the Senate. Two other reports are included as part of the same document: ((1)) Report of the Secretary of the Treasury, Communicating a report of scientific investigations relative to the chemical nature of saccharine substances, and the art of manufacturing sugar; made, under the direction of Professor A. D. Bache, by Professor R. S. McCulloh. 29th Congress, 2d Session, Senate, Executive Doc. No. 50. March 1, 1847. Ordered to be printed, and that 5,000 additional copies be printed for the use of the Senate. Seven b/w foldout plates, one b/w plate with drawings and chart. ((2)) Letter from the Secretary of the Treasury, Communicating a report of researches on hydrometers and spirituous liquors, made under the superintendence of Professor A. D. Bache, by Professor R. S. McCulloh. 30th Congress, 1st Session, Senate, Executive Doc. No. 50. June 2, 1848. Read, and ordered that 10,000 copies be printed for the use of the Senate, together with the former reports relating to the same series of scientific researches, under the revision of Professor McCulloh. One foldout b/w plate (Plate A) showing 'Curves of Specific Gravity for Spirits containing various per cents by weight of alcohol.' ((3)) An Appendix, Supplementary to the Preceding Reports on Sugar. 653 pages. Disbound government document. Residue from leather book binding remains on spine edge and is very dry, spine edge is also creased. Pages are browning along edges, some dirt smudges, few corners are creased and dog-earred, text is easily legible. Document in VG- condition. Scarce complete document of unique scientific research.. Paperbound. Very Good-. Illus. by Foldout Plates, Plates, Tables, Figures. Size: Approx. 5 3/4" x 9". U.S. Government Document.
