About This Item
Little, Brown & Co, publishers, London - 1999 hardcover, 6½" x 9½", with dust jacket Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers & barcode, etc. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket Here is as moving a book of letters between father and son as any in the history of literature. In 1950, just before his eighteenth birthday, V S Naipaul left his native Trinidad for the first time. In 1953, aged forty-seven, his father died of a heart attack. Those three years saw an intense, and intensely human, correspondence between father and son, marked by great mutual reliance and affection, and by a shared literary ambition. Text includes an Introduction and notes by Gillon Aitken.
