London: Hodder, 1894 olive cloth with gilt vignette to cover. cloth rubbed through at corners , tail and head of spine worn. edges of frontis and the tissue guard are foxed. some minor foxing and soiling throughout the text. xii, 382, ii + frontis .plates in the text.Edges untrimmed, the list of illustrations and pp1-2 are missing. Front hinge cracked, full page gift presentation inscription to blank fly notes a presentation to " Miss Mary Putman by thee officers and teachers of the Oxford Terrace Baptist Sunday School...Christchurch N[ew Z[ealand] May 5 1895". Rear fep detached. In 1865 Maggie Paton set sail for the New Hebrides from Scotland, this is a record taken from her letters and journals of her time and family in the islands. Includes much information on natives and local customs etc. . First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Maggie Paton. 8vo - over 7? - 9? tall.
