"The Levanter is major Ambler: realistic, rich in character, consistently exciting and, with its deceptive air of innocence, wholly entertaining." Ships same or next business day. Bookplate from noted collector, Rolland Comstock, on paste-down endpaper. Previous owner wrote name and date on free endpaper. Book's spine is cocked and slightly loose, minimal edge wear, light bumps on both ends of spine, light brown stain on fore-edge of pages 249 to back endpaper. Dust jacket protected in archival plastic cover. DJ has creases on both flaps, small tears on head and tail edges, two pieces of tape on inside of DJ along head edge and one on tail edge, tanned. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 307 pages .

Synopsis

Eric Ambler was born in London in 1909. Before turning to writing full-time, he worked at an engineering firm, and wrote copy for an advertising agency. His first novel was published in 1936. During the course of his career, Ambler was awarded two Gold Daggers, a Silver Dagger, and a Diamond Dagger from the Crime Writers Association of Great Britain, named a Grand Master by the Mystery Writers Association of America, and made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II. In addition to his novels, Ambler wrote a number of screenplays, including A Night to Remember and The Cruel Sea , which won him an Oscar nomination. Eric Ambler died in 1998.
