Chez Pillet Ainé, Paris., 1820-21. First edition. Small octavo. Three volumes. pp [iv], 354; [iv], 344; [iv], 344. Wood-engraved frontispieces, vignettes, folding plate comprising a map and London scenes. Period binding of full tree calf, red leather title-labels, green volume-labels. Marbled endpapers. First a soldier, then a dramatist and librettist best known for his libretto of Rossini's Guillaume Tell, Étienne also write journalism. One of the spines is lightly water-stained. Corners a little rubbed. Very good set.
