Description:
New York: Produced and Released by Mainstream Magazine, [ca, 1947-8].. Original 12" 78 rpm double-sided phonograph record. Printed labels a trifle foxed, small blemish at extreme edge far from grooves, otherwise visually very good. A quite rare recording of Trumbo's recitation of his long poem, first published in the Winter 1947 (I:1) issue of MAINSTREAM. While OCLC includes a barebones entry for this recording (without citing locations), it refers to "Part 2" only, which is the flip side of the present record, and is somewhat contradictory, asserting there is "no linguistic content" and "unreadable" and that it is a "musical recording." OCLC: 77819968.

THE LIBERATOR
by Liberator
- Used
New York: Published by Liberator Publishing Co, 1922. V:11. (Whole number 56). Quarto. Pictorial wrapper by Frank Walts. Inevitable uniform tanning and fragility to the text block, four short closed tears at edges of upper wrapper, small corner clip from rear wrapper, otherwise an unusually well-preserved copy, very good or better. Edited initially by Max and Crystal Eastman and Floyd Dell, and further on by Robert Minor, et al, with distinguished art and advisory editors. This number includes contributions by Robert Minor, Debs, G.B. Shaw, Gropper, Untermeyer, Art Young, Dell, et al. Published monthly from March 1918 through October 1924, LIBERATOR was the direct successor to THE MASSES, maintained in much the same spirit, but with a sharpening of concerns based on refinements in Marxist principles and practice, most notably in light of developments in Russia. GOLDWATER 137. HOFFMAN, et al, p.254.

"TIME, a book of words and pictures by William Burroughs, and with 4 drawings by Brion Gysin." A limited English printing made on a spirit duplicator, a collector has told me, by poet Jim Pennington of Brighton. The original printings by 'C' Press were less than 1000 copies, some signed. These are rare. But for English Burroughs collectors especially, this 'pirate' edition is what circulated in the UK and was influential on the underground circuit. This copy was obtained by me from Unicorn Bookshop who was publishing a book of mine at the time.15 sheets printed on both sides. The Liberator ran between 1831 and 1865 with the purpose of spreading anti-slavery sentiment and propagating the abolitionist cause. It was the most widely circulated liberationist newspaper during the Civil War and antebellum period. Reprinted in this particular issue is Senator Charles Sumner's speech, which was given at the Cooper Institute in New York City. In it, Sumner addresses the impending foreign relations crisis and denounces any new power with slavery as its cornerstone. He states: "The mistaken sympathy for which Foreign powers now bestow upon slavery...under the plausible name of neutrality... will be worse for them than us. For…
