Good. 1896 Lamson, Wolfe and Company, 1st Edition. Inscribed by a publisher, M Lawson, on the back of the half-title page. It states: "Only 800 copies printed and plates destroyed. This edition is limited to 750 copies of which this is No. 588." Blue linen cloth with gilt lettering to front and spine. Front has gilt border and upper page edges have gilt tint. A gilt illus on the back is labeled " VT Crescit". Lower board edges show minor wear and there is a micro tear in the spine heel. There is some age-toning on the spine and along a small part of the rear edge of the spine. Side and lower page edges are rough-cut. Contains 21 copperplate prints, including one by Thomas Bewick, 2 by J. Winfred Spencely, and 3 by W. F. Hopson.
