Publisher's original black cloth with gilt lettering to the spine, in the Richard Chopping illustrated dustwrapper. An excellent near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents with the unavoidable toning to the text block are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed dustwrapper that has a hint of fading to the spine but is otherwise bright and without loss or tears. Without a printed price to the front flap, for export. Inscribed by the author in black ink on the front endpaper "To Uma / with best wishes / John Gardner". The first of the author's James Bond continuation novels. Synopsis

Licence Renewed (published in American editions as License Renewed), first published in 1981, is the first novel by John Gardner featuring Ian Fleming's secret agent, James Bond. It was the first proper James Bond novel (not counting novelisations and a faux biography) since Kingsley Amis's Colonel Sun in 1968. Carrying the Glidrose Publications copyright, it was first published in the United Kingdom by Jonathan Cape and in the United States by Richard Marek.
