About This Item
Chicago: Our Possessions Publishing Co.. Good. 1899. Hardcover. This biography of Admiral Geroge Dewey was issued shortly after his success at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War. The text is accompanied by a number of illustrations and photos and one map of Manila Bay. The binding of this book is the original brown decorated covers featuring Admiral Dewey in a white uniform within a red shield and with gilt spine and cover lettering (the gilt letteing is somewhat dull). There is some wear and dulling to the covers, but the binding is intact and tight. There is some light age tanning to the pages, particularly at the edges, else this is a clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates.; B&W Illustrations, Photos, Map; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 452 pages .
