Alexander W. Banfield established a Mennonite Brethren mission in Nigeria in 1905. "The object in arranging such a book as this is to give the public a general idea of that part of the great West Coast of Africa, known as Nigeria, and especially Northern Nigeria, which is Great Britain's latest Protectorate. Another object has been to give the people of America some idea of how the people of Nigeria live from day to day, their customs, religions, home life, industries, etc." Photos and accompanying text show everyday activities, mud houses, markets, street scenes, etc.
