Previous owner's inscription to front pastedown. Water staining to bottom edge of first few pages, text remains unaffected. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Light sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Wear marks overall.

Moderate foxing and tanning to pages with heavier tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Pencil inscriptions to front pastedown and heavier foxing and tanning to text block edges. Front hinge is cracked with exposed netting and cracks to guttering with exposed netting. Boards have visible sunning and rubbing. Minor bumping to corners and fair crushing to spine ends. Heavier sunning to spine and splitting to rear joint.

New York: The John Day Company, 1930. Clean and tight and square. Sharp corners. Dark green boards with gold lettering and designs. A little sunning along the edges. A lovely to look at gift inscription on the first page. The dust jacket has a bit of wear and tear and chipping along the edges and a slightly darkened spine. A few spots of soiling on the lighter colored background and two spots of faded hand-written numbers on the front. The jacket is price clipped and is in new mylar. An interesting piece of ephemera dated 1931 also included.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Natural Science.
