Philadelphia: John Kelly & Sons, 1870. Two separately paginated titles in one volume, the Life of the Blessed Virgin dated 1870; the Life, Doctrine and Sufferings of...Jesus Christ dated 1871. Large, handsomely bound volume, illustrated throughout with fine quality tissue protected steel engravings and an additional color title plate at front, family pages (unused), additional references. Full rich brown grained leather lettered and decorated in gilt and embossed with a darker brown, raised spine bands, all edges gilt, gilt tooled inner dentelles, 524 + 570 pages, 11.25 inches tall and about 3.5 inches thick, name of J. Duane in gilt on front cover beneath the gilt figure of the Virgin Mary. Some expected and reasonably light rubbing to the extremities, good hinges, firm text block, very clean pages with no foxing, no names or other markings.. Hard Cover. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
