A HANDSOMELY BOUND COPY
The Scottish Enlightenment philosopher, historian, economist, and librarian David Hume (1711–1776) is best known for his influential system of philosophical empiricism, doubt, and naturalism. His curiously detached autobiography, The Life of David Hume, Esquire, Written by Himself (1777; the title is his own), is dated April 18, 1776. He died in his Edinburgh house after a long illness and was buried on Calton Hill.
DESCRIPTION
Set in Monotype Bell on cotton Fabriano Tiepolo wove, cotton paper in an edition of 25 copies (this is no 2). Bound by hand in full leather, titles and decoration to spine gilt, marbled edges. Octavo, 52 pages (each), housed in a hand-made slipcase.
Attractively bound by hand.
