This is an early Washington biography - "The Life of GEORGE WASHINGTON, Commander in Chief of the American Forces during the War which Established the Independence of his Country, and First President of the United States" by John Marshall. 1832 2nd edition; James Crissy; Philadelphia. Complete set in two volumes. Nicely bound in full leather with gilt accents along the outer edges of the boards, marbled end papers, marbled page edges on all sides, and four raised bands with gilt lettering on the spines. Volume I contains an engraved frontispiece portrait of Washington (with tissue guard). Each volume has an Index at the back; volume II also has a "Notes" section at the back.

Condition:
The leather has darkened along the top and right-hand edges of the volume I front cover. Dampstaining to the top half of the front cover of volume II. The back cover of volume II has a light stain strip along the top and right-hand edges. Some peeling to the leather on the covers of volume I. The bottom spine label is missing from volume II. The cover corners of volume I are worn with the boards exposed. Both covers are tightly bound. All covers are firmly attached. Small tear at the bottom-right corner of the volume I spine. Consistent light foxing (primarily) at the top page edges throughout both volumes; heavier foxing on the end papers. The pages are otherwise clean with no other notable issues found. Overall the set is in Good- condition
