London: Jonathan Cape, 1989, 1994, 2004. [Literary Biography] SIGNED FIRST EDITIONS. Three volumes, large octavo (24 x 16 x 16cm). With three suites of black and white photographs within each volume. Publisher's cloth hardcovers in jacket. Inscribed by the late Norman Sherry to title pages in blue ink 'For Edward, 5 Oct 2004'. All three signed upon publication of the final book in the trilogy. The recipient is the writer, media and film executive Edward Milward-Oliver. Fine throughout. Fully signed sets are scarce; according to our searches this is the only copy currently available. The distinguished biographer Norman Sherry was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. His monumental life of Graham Greene was critically acclaimed by Margaret Attwood and Auberon Waugh, and was an Edgar-winning title.

Synopsis

Norman Sherry, Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and Mitchell Distinguished Professor of Literature at Trinity University in San Antonio, is also the author of Conrad's Eastern World , Conrad's Western World , Charlotte and Emily Brontë , and Jane Austen . Norman Sherry received the Edgar Allan Poe Award for The Life of Graham Greene, Volume I: 1904-1939 , and Volume II was chosen by the editors of the New York Times Book Review as "one of the best eleven books of 1995."
