Frontispiece and title page loose. A very good copy. - --------------------------------------------------------------------- Josiah Quincy III (1772-1864) was a prominent Massachusetts politician and educator. He served as a congressman from the first Mass. district from 1805-1813, was Mayor of Boston, and President of Harvard University. His father was a patriot and was co-counsel with John Adams during the trial of Capt. Preston for the Boston Massacre. The first chapter is dedicated to the ancestry of the family. Quincy Market is named for Josiah Quincy III.
