Remnants of removed bookplates to FEPs, later inked ownership inscription to FFEP of Vol. I, occasional spotting. "Presentation copy", with embossed stamps to that effect to all title pages. The second edition of the collected letters of influential biologist Thomas Henry Huxley (1825-1895); with biographical notes by his son Leonard (1860-1933), godchild of family friend and regular correspondent Charles Darwin. . Second edition. 8vo.
