This work follows the life of Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson. He was a British flag officer in the Royal Navy. Nelson was admired for his abilities in leadership, strategy and use of unconventional tactics. Condition: In a half calf binding with paper covered boards. Externally, sound with heavy rubbing to the joints and extremities. Loss to the head of the rear joint. Backstrip is lifting at the rear joint. Further patches of rubbing to the spine. Front joint is tender. Rear hinge is slightly strained but firm. Prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown, Rev C Kirkpatrick. First gathering is weak and held by one cord only, may detach with further handling. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with scattered spots throughout. Overall: GOOD..

Horatio, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bronté was noted for his inspirational leadership, superb grasp of strategy and unconventional tactics, which resulted in a number of decisive naval victories. He was wounded several times in combat, losing one arm and the sight in one eye. Of his several victories, the best known and most notable was the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, during which he was shot and killed.
