London: John Fairburn, 1822. xxiv, 489pp, [3], plates. Original boards, original paper label to spine, untrimmed. Rebacked (almost invisibly), with old label laid down. Label slightly chipped, boards rubbed, corners and edges bumped, front inner joint with paper repair, internally quite bright and clean, complete with the half-title and the 'To the Binders' leaf at the rear. With a hand-coloured frontispiece and twenty hand-coloured engravings by George Cruikshank. First edition, first issue, large-paper copy, the Albert M. Cohn copy with his bookplate and an initialled typed note to front pastedown, now housed in a cloth chemise and a full morocco pull off top box by Riviere, with raised bands and gilt to spine and sides, which is slightly rubbed and darkened to extremities. According to Cohn's note, "This copy is one of the very few that were first bound up in this manner by the publishers from the parts. It contains the very rare unnumbered leaf 'To the Binder' at the end. The volume was afterwards issued in picture boards, but this state is even rarer. AMC".
