Contains a large number of excellent illustrations mainly in black and white but some in colour, maps and plans. Produced to a typical Medici Society high standard. This is volume 1 only covering the period from 1794 to 1816. In original olive green buckram hard cover binding with black titling on spine. Very Good++ in original dust wrapper which is a little faded on the spine and has a tiny piece missing at the foot of the spine (2 to 3mm) otherwise Very Good+. A substantial volume. WILL REQUIRE EXTRA POSTAGE OUTSIDE UK.

- The outer portion of a book which covers the actual binding. The spine usually faces outward when a book is placed on a shelf....
- Reprint
- Any printing of a book which follows the original edition. By definition, a reprint is not a first edition.
- Good+
- A term used to denote a condition a slight grade better than Good.
- Buckram
- A plain weave fabric normally made from cotton or linen which is stiffened with starch or other chemicals to cover the book...
