New York: Privately Published, 1847. First Edition. Signed and inscribed by the author, Jane Fairfield, the wife of American poet, Sumner Lincoln Fairfield. Inscribed: “To Miss John’s, With Mrs. Fairfield’s compliments. Frontispiece portrait engraving of Sumner L. Fairfield by A.H. Ritchie. Bound in decorative dark blue cloth boards featuring a gilt-stamped design of an urn on the front board and with decorative gilt-stamping to the spine. Lightly used and worn copy with some spotting and edge wear and a touch of fading to the cloth and some tears to the cloth at the top of the spine, and with some foxing to the interior. A biography of poet Sumner Lincoln Fairfield (1803 - 1844) by his wife Jane with three long poems by Sumner; ‘The Sisters of Santa Clara. A Tale of Portugal,’ ‘The Hour at Will,’ and ‘The Death Scene.’
