A new edition of this notable documentation of the life of the famous British statesman, whose career lasted for over sixty years. This new edition of the work has a half calf leather binding with a marbled fore edge. This work is in two volumes. With a frontispiece portrait to volume one.Morley documents the illustrious career of British Liberal Statesman, William Gladstone, who served as Prime Minister four separate times, which is more than any other person. This work covers different aspects of Gladstone's life, from his childhood and his time at Eton, to his first premiership in 1868. Morley separates this sixty-year long career into two volumes, with volume one focusing on Gladstone's life in between 1809-72 and volume two covering 1872-98. In publisher's original half calf binding. Externally a trifle rubbed, particularly to extremities, causing loss of leather. Lacking spine label to volume two. Slight bumping, with handling marks. Joints tender but still reasonably firm. Hinges tender in volume one, with cords visible. Slight marks to boards, particularly to front of volume one. Offsetting and age toning to endpapers. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Light age toning, mainly to volume one. Good
