Boston: James H. Earle. Brown cloth with gilt stamped lettering and designs on the front cover and the spine. This is an ex-library copy that does not look it has hardly been used. Nice and bright. Hinges strong. The pages are bright and crisp with no foxing. Bumped at the spine tips and a little spot on the spine where a sticker was removed. It is not that noticeable but just a slightly darker than the original cloth. Library stamp on the front pastedown. The frontispiece engraving is nice and bright and has a sepia paper covering. Scarce printing by this publisher. 544pp. . Very Good. Hardcover. 1887.

Heavy shelfwear: scuffing along edges and covers, heavy spine fade, heavier fraying at top and bottom spine edges with small missing piece from top edge. Light tanning along page edges. Tightly bound. No marks. Overall, volume is in Fair condition..
