Some endpaper discoloration.. 160 p. 31 cm. : Illustrations, Portraits, Facsimiles. Bibliography of Lincoln pictures. Chronological numbering of Lincoln pictures. Stefan Loran was one of the most successful editors in Europe, until Hitler took power in 1933. Lorant was editor of the Munich Illustrated Press and was put into "protective custody" the day after Hitler took over the Bavarian government. He recorded his experiences as a political prisoner in his work, I was Hitler's Prisoner. After he was released he relocated to England, where he founded a monthly magazine, Lilliput. Lorant relocated to the United States in 1940. This groundbreaking work contains about 400 pictures, including more than 100 portraits of Lincoln.
