Norfolk, CT: New Directions, 1947. First Edition. Fine/Near Fine. 8vo, 8 1/4 x 5 1/4 inches (210 x 133 mm); 312 pp., paper evenly toned; frontispiece photo of author in 1921. Blue cloth binding with black graphic detail and gilt title on spine. Dust jacket with price ($3.00) intact on front flap, lightly used with a little toning and a couple of chips on the edges. Binding tight. Lions and Shadowns is a fictional autobiography, of Isherwood's education - both in and out of school - in the 1920s.
From the estate of Robert Cecil Bald (1901 - 1965), an Australian scholar of English Literature, who moved to the US to teach at Cornell University in 1937 and was then a professor at the University of Chicago from 1952 to 1965.
