London: Blackie & Son Limited, 1936. First edition. Cloth. Very Good/Good. 5.5" by 4.5". Cicely Mary Barker. A smart first edition of this charmingly illustrated collection of rhymes for children. First edition. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, eleven colour plates, and many in-text images. Collated complete. A collection of old rhymes for children including: An Apple-Tree Rhyme, The Bells, The Cuckoo, The Fairies, and St. Swithin's Day. Written and illustrated by Cicely Mary Barker, an English writer and illustrator who created the famous Flower Fairies. In the original pictorial paper covered binding. Externally, smart with light wear and minor bumping to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear and the odd small closed tear. Minor sunning to the spine with sympathetic repair to the tail of the spine with tape. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small spot. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good
