Glossary
Some terminology that may be used in this description includes:
- Rubbing
- Abrasion or wear to the surface. Usually used in reference to a book's boards or dust-jacket.
- Shaken
- A hardcover in which the text block is loose, but still attached to the binding.
- Fair+
- Used to describe a book in slightly better than Fair condition. Fair describes "a worn book that has complete text pages...
- Hinge
- The portion of the book closest to the spine that allows the book to be opened and closed.
- Shelfwear
- Minor wear resulting from a book being place on, and taken from a bookshelf, especially along the bottom edge.
- Spine
- The outer portion of a book which covers the actual binding. The spine usually faces outward when a book is placed on a shelf....
